The Exalted One
Christ Jesus was in the form of God:
yet he did not think to grasp at equality with God,
but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant:
and was born in our human likeness.
Being found in our human state, he humbled himself:
and became obedient unto death,
even death on a cross.
Therefore God has highly exalted him:
and bestowed on him
the Name above every name;
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow:
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord:
to the glory of God the Father.
Amen.
Gospel Reading - The true light

1-2Before anything else existed,a there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God. 3He created everything there is — nothing exists that he didn’t make. 4Eternal life is in him, and this life gives light to all mankind. 5His life is the light that shines through the darkness — and the darkness can never extinguish it.
6-7God sent John the Baptist as a witness to the fact that Jesus Christ is the true Light. 8John himself was not the Light; he was only a witness to identify it.
9Later on, the one who is the true Light arrived to shine on everyone coming into the world.
. . . . .John 1:1-9- literally, “In the beginning.” Christ, literally, “the Word,” meaning Christ, the wisdom and power of God and the first cause of all things; God’s personal expression of himself to men.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
