The Prologue of John
In the beginning was the Word:
and the Word was with God;
and the Word was God:
he was in the beginning with God.
All things were made through him:
and without him
was not anything made that was made.
In him was life:
and the life was the light of the human race.
The light shines in the darkness:
and the darkness has never overcome it.
Amen.
Gospel Reading - He was named Jesus
15When this great army of angels had returned again to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Come on! Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this wonderful thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16They ran to the village and found their way to Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger. 17The shepherds told everyone what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child. 18All who heard the shepherds’ story expressed astonishment, 19but Mary quietly treasured these things in her heart and often thought about them.
20Then the shepherds went back again to their fields and flocks, praising God for the visit of the angels, and because they had seen the child, just as the angel had told them.
21Eight days later, at the baby’s circumcision ceremony, he was named Jesus, the name given him by the angel before he was even conceived.
. . . . .Luke 2:15-21The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
halloFri be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
