Seek the Lord

‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts:
nor are your ways my ways,’ says the Lord.
‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth:
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.

New Testament Reading - Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All

thumb

4For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats really to take away sins.a

5That is why Christ said as he came into the world, “O God, the blood of bulls and goats cannot satisfy you, so you have made ready this body of mine for me to lay as a sacrifice upon your altar. 6You were not satisfied with the animal sacrifices, slain and burnt before you as offerings for sin. 7Then I said, ‘See, I have come to do your will, to lay down my life, just as the Scriptures said that I would.’”

8After Christ said this about not being satisfied with the various sacrifices and offerings required under the old system, 9he then added, “Here I am. I have come to give my life.”

He cancels the first system in favor of a far better one. 10Under this new plan we have been forgiven and made clean by Christ’s dying for us once and for all.

Intercession

Intercession and Thanksgiving are offered in free prayer
or in silence, ending with the following

Show us your mercy, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.
Lord, have mercy. E te Ariki, kia aroha mai.
The earth is full of violence:
look, O Lord, upon your covenant.
Christ, have mercy. E te Karaiti, kia aroha mai.
O God, do not be silent;
do not keep still, nor hold your peace, O God.
Lord, have mercy. E te Ariki, kia aroha mai.
Amen.
