Your Light has Come

Arise, shine, for your light has come:
and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.

New Testament Reading - God uses what is weak

thumb

26Notice among yourselves, dear brothers, that few of you who follow Christ have big names or power or wealth. 27Instead, God has deliberately chosen to use ideas the world considers foolish and of little worth in order to shame those people considered by the world as wise and great. 28He has chosen a plan despised by the world, counted as nothing at all, and used it to bring down to nothing those the world considers great, 29so that no one anywhere can ever brag in the presence of God.

30For it is from God alone that you have your life through Christ Jesus. He showed us God’s plan of salvation; he was the one who made us acceptable to God; he made us pure and holya and gave himself to purchase our salvation. 31As it says in the Scriptures, “If anyone is going to boast, let him boast only of what the Lord has done.”

. . . . . 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
  1. he made us pure and holy, or “he brought us near to God.” to purchase our salvation, or “to free us from slavery to sin.”

Intercession

Please remember our Prayer Requests

You, Lord are the light of the world;
come and make our darkness bright.
Lord, have mercy. E te Ariki, kia aroha mai.
O God, give the solitary a home
and bring forth the prisoners into freedom.
Christ, have mercy. E te Karaiti, kia aroha mai.
Restore us again, O God of hosts;
show the light of your countenance
and we shall be saved.
Lord, have mercy. E te Ariki, kia aroha mai.
Amen.
