Gospel Reading - The truth sets free

^30-31Then many of the Jewish leaders who heard him say these things began believing him to be the Messiah.

Jesus said to them, “You are truly my disciples if you live as I tell you to, ³²and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

³³“But we are descendants of Abraham,” they said, “and have never been slaves to any man on earth! What do you mean, ‘set free’?”

³⁴Jesus replied, “You are slaves of sin, every one of you. ³⁵And slaves don’t have rights, but the Son has every right there is! ³⁶So if the Son sets you free, you will indeed be free—.

I will give you shepherds after my own heart
who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
     hallowed be your name,
     your kingdom come,
     your will be done,
          on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
     as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
     and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours
     now and for ever.
